Home made roasted tahini

Making tahini yourself is a game changer. It's freakishly expensive in the shops, and dirt cheap and easy to do yourself - but you need a strong blender like a nutribullet.
You can also make tahini from other high fat seeds such as sunflowers, macadamia etc.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup White sesame seeds
  • Oil

Instructions

  • Toast the sesame seeds. You can do this in the microwave, oven or the stovetop.
Microwave: put in a ceramic or glass bowl (Not plastic) and microwave for 1 minute, stir, and then put back in for 30 second intervals, stirring after each round in the microwave, until the seeds are golden and smell delicious.
Oven: spread the seeds on a baking tray and bake for around 5 minutes, watching carefully, until golden. Remove from the tray otherwise the hot tray will burn the seeds.
Stovetop: Place the seeds in a small sauce pan and cook over high heat, moving or stirring constantly until golden and fragrant. Remove from the pot otherwise the hot pot will burn the seeds.
  • Pour the seeds into the nutribullet with the Milling blade, and pour enough oil in to come up to the same level as the seeds
    Blend until totally smooth.
